real knitting nature

I've been checking out the work of Janet Morton, a Canadian artist who often uses knitting as her tool. Check out the Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art for pages of photos of her vast body of work. I especially love the Newsflash Blanket and the Domestic Interiors (household furniture all cozied up!).

I also just love the aesthetic of this:

The installation was made for the Toronto Zoo and on display in the summer of 2004. It used found lace pieces to cover a set of 13 locust trees. So impressive and pretty. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a personal website for her work, but you can read an extensive bio here.
